Spam Regulations

Most small business owners aren’t ready for the new anti-spam law coming into effect this July, believes the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

The Canadian Anti-Spam Law, or CASL, will restrict how businesses communicate electronically with clients and prospects.

"I think this is going to be a pretty heavy-handed legislation and it's going to take a lot of time before many small businesses are even aware that they have some obligations under this legislation and the regulations that go along with it," CFIB vice-president Corinne Pohlmann said in an interview with The Canadian Press.

It will affect any marketing plans that use emails as a way to communicate with potential clients. At least the new regulation gives us 3 years to implement these new rules. From what we understand it will not stop spam coming in from our outside the country - we can expect to still be inundated with it.
